Gonzalo Fernández Castaño (-2) finished with a solid first round in the Saudi International, third consecutive tournament of the desert portion of the European Tour, which hasn’t gone his way so far, seeing as how he hasn’t managed to make the cut yet.
Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño will break in a new destination this year in the Saudi International, tournament on the European Tour calendar, putting Saudi Arabia on the map. It will take place at the Royal Greens Golf and CC, in the King Abdullah Economic City, on the shores of the Red Sea.
Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño (+2) did not make the cut in the Omega Dubai Desert Classic. He shot a 72 in the second round, falling quite short of his objective. He knew it would be difficult, seeing as how he needed to shoot a 67, but his fate was sealed when, after starting out on the 10th hole, he made a bogey and a double bogey on the 14th and 15th holes.
Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño (+2) had a tough day at the office in the first round of the Omega Dubai Desert Classic, European Tour tournament held on the Majlis Course at the Emirates Golf Club.
Just as he set out to do, Gonzalo Fernández Castaño has been working hard these past days, since the day he didn’t make the cut in Abu Dhabi, alongside Jamie Gough, his new coach, on some important changes in his swing. It’s all about the changes starting to come naturally, and to gain more and more confidence as time goes on.
Gonzalo Fernández Castaño (-1) fought to the bitter end to make the cut in Abu Dhabi, with a total of 71 shots, even putting for eagle on the 18th hole, where the ball stopped right on the edge of the hole (but the eagle wouldn’t have helped in making the cut in the end anyway).
