Gonzalo Fernández Castaño had to withdrawal from the Oman Open after playing just one hole in the second round. The Spanish golfer had sharp pains in his left foot and, although he attempted to compete in spite of the pain, he quickly realized that he was in no condition to play, and he preferred not to run the risk of aggravating the injury even more.
Gonzalo Fernández Castaño (+4) did not get off to a good start in the Oman Open. The Spanish golfer shot a 76, which puts him four shots away from the cut at the moment. He would need a very solid day of golf in the second round to make it through to the weekend.
Gonzalo Fernández Castaño will begin another three-week tour, starting in Oman this Thursday, then to Qatar, and finishing in Kenia. The Spanish golfer will be playing in the Oman Open with confidence, but cautious at the same time, after having worked on his swing for three weeks, which he’s been modifying for several months. “Now it’s time to assimilate these changes on the course, but I’m hitting the ball better, and I’m clearly on the right path”, he affirms.
Gonzalo Fernández Castaño (-2) finished the Saudi International with a 71 in the fourth and last round, one over par, which caused him to get bumped down a few spots in the rankings to 44th place. Another solid round for Gonzalo as far as his long game, however, it was also another round in which his errors cost him, with four birdies, three bogeys and a double bogey.
Gonzalo Fernández Castaño (-3) shot a 69 in the third round of the Saudi International, maintaining his consistently solid play, and above all, his progression, seeing as how his long game, his main preoccupation in the start of 2019, is now back on track.
Gonzalo Fernández Castaño (-2) got the painful thorn out of his side after missing the cut in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, deep in the process of technical adjustments, and he will be playing over the weekend in Arabia after shooting a 70 at the Royal Greens Golf and Country Club, host to the Saudi International.
