Gonzalo Fernández Castaño will begin another three-week tour, starting in Oman this Thursday, then to Qatar, and finishing in Kenia. The Spanish golfer will be playing in the Oman Open with confidence, but cautious at the same time, after having worked on his swing for three weeks, which he’s been modifying for several months. “Now it’s time to assimilate these changes on the course, but I’m hitting the ball better, and I’m clearly on the right path”, he affirms.
Apart from all the work on the swing, Gonzalo has already been practicing his short game this very week at the Al Mouj Golf (Muscat, Oman), imminent host to the tournament. Gonzalo’s short game caused him some trouble during the last desert tour in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Arabia.
The golfer from Madrid played in this very tournament in Oman last year, but did not manage to make the cut. However, it’s a course he really likes, and it’s going to truly put his game to the test this time around, with very firm greens and lots of wind in the forecast, mostly on Saturday.
Fernández Castaño will play in the first round starting at 8:30 am (Spanish time, three hours later in Oman) together with South African golfer Justin Walters and British golfer Oliver Wilson.
