Gonzalo Fernández Castaño (+8) shot a 79 in the first, very tough round of the French Open, leaving him in a complicated situation as far as the cut. The wind made for an absolute nightmare on the course, which is already difficult in and of itself, mostly in the afternoon session, when Gonzalo played.
Gonzalo Fernández Castaño will compete in the French Open this week, his third participation in a Rolex Series tournament (he played in the BMW at Wentworth and the Italian Open these past weeks), on the Albatross course at the Golf National, which has changed slightly since the last time he played there in 2013 and which, on the other hand, has never been willing to budge much for Gonzalo.
Gonzalo Fernández Castaño (-1) had an excellent finale in the BMW International Open, and moved up twenty places in the rankings after shooting a 68, four under par for the day, much more accurate on the second shots, and also more fine-tuned on the putt.
Gonzalo Fernández Castaño (+3) didn’t lose faith, didn’t stop fighting, but the Golf Club Laerchenhof, where the BMW International Open concluded its third round, would not back down in the duel with the Spanish golfer, who has shot a 73 three times in a row now, insufficient to leave options open for the win in the last round.
Gonzalo Fernández Castaño (+2) made it past the first objective without sweating it out too much in the second round of the BMW International Open, which secured his presence throughout the weekend. Once again, up against tough playing conditions, mostly due to strong winds that came down hard on the German Golf Club Gut Larchenhof, and the Spanish golfer made it through with a 73 (four bogeys and three birdies).
Gonzalo Fernández Castaño (+1) shot a 73 in the first round of the BMW International Open, a notable score considering the playing conditions at the Golf Club Gut Larchenhof, close to Cologne: the leader, French golfer Sebastien Gros, is currently at -4, the top ten of the tournament in the -2 range, and the cut is established at +2 for the moment, and tomorrow it could easily be +3.
