Gonzalo Fernández Castaño (+2) made it past the first objective without sweating it out too much in the second round of the BMW International Open, which secured his presence throughout the weekend. Once again, up against tough playing conditions, mostly due to strong winds that came down hard on the German Golf Club Gut Larchenhof, and the Spanish golfer made it through with a 73 (four bogeys and three birdies).
He’s currently in the middle of the rankings, eight shots from the leader, Australian golfer Scott Hend (-6), with room to recover and make a comeback, although he will need to improve his stats from tee to green where he had some difficulties in the first two rounds (he only caught 19/36 regulation greens).
In any event, the rankings are really tight and subject to change at any given moment (the Spanish golfer, for example, is now just three shots away from the top ten).
Gonzalo will play in the third round on the German course with young South African golfer Haydn Porteous, starting at 10:19 am (Spanish time).
