Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño got off to a great start in the Rust-Oleum Championship in the Web.com Tour. The golfer from Madrid turned up the heat as the round went on, signing off on a solid card of 70 shots.
Gonzalo made a great comeback after a difficult start to the round. Going into the 9th hole, he was over par for the day, a delicate situation that put him at two shots from the provisional cut. However, from there, his best game came out in full force, and he made three almost consecutive birdies on the 2nd-5th holes, and he ended up defeating the Ivanhoe Golf Club.
He is currently five shots from the leader, the perfect scenario to continue on the attack, as the rankings are very tight. He’ll play today in the morning in attempts to continue what he started, at a high level of accuracy (five birdies).
