Gonzalo Fernández Castaño (+3) did not make the cut in the Omega European Masters after shooting a 73 in the second round. A double bogey early on, the 11th hole and the second of the round, complicated things right from the start and, although the Spanish golfer came back with birdies on the 12th and 16th, another big slip-up happened on the 6th hole (another double bogey), leaving him practically without any options to continue over the weekend.
Things didn’t go too well for Gonzalo Fernández Castaño (PAR) in the first round of the Omega European Masters, held at the Crans-Sur Sierre Golf Club (Crans-Montana, Switzerland), although it’s fire from a dire situation. The Spanish golfer was too inconsistent, ups and downs between error and accuracy, finishing the round with four birdies and four bogeys, placing him outside the cut line at the moment, which could go up to -2 this Friday.
Gonzalo Fernández Castaño will play in the Omega European Masters starting this Thursday, his third week in a row of competition since the long break over the summer. The tournament will be held, just like every year since it was incorporated in the European Tour in 1972, on the same course as always at the Crans-Sur Sierre Golf Club (Crans-Montana, Switzerland), a course that isn’t exactly among the Spanish golfer’s favorites, although he does have a solid sixth place under his belt from 2007.
Gonzalo Fernández Castaño (-4) finished the Scandinavian Invitation with another round of 68 shots, two under for the day, the same as Saturday, for a final outcome of 59th place, far from the ‘hot zone’.
Gonzalo Fernández Castaño (-2) shot a 68 in the third round of the Scandinavian Invitation, two under for the day, a more solid performance than the first two rounds, but which did not help much by way of moving up in the rankings.
Gonzalo Fernández Castaño (PAR) landed another par in the second round of the Scandinavian Invitation, the same as Thursday, a sufficient score to just barely make the cut, allowing him the opportunity to improve over the weekend at the Hills Golf & Sports Club in Gothenburg.
