Gonzalo Fernández Castaño (-9) closed the D+D Czech Masters with a 72, par for the day, which bumped him up to 23rd place. It’s not, by any means, what the Spanish golfer had hoped for, but he did manage to finish out his performance at the Albatross Golf Resort with another solid round of golf in which he continued to accumulate points, in search of that first main objective, which is to make it to the top 110 in the Race to Dubai in order to secure the complete rights to play in 2020 (he’s currently in 121st place in the Race, just 36 points from reaching 110th).
The golfer from Madrid made thirteen pars and one birdie on the first fourteen holes of the last round, letting a few good opportunities slip out from under his fingertips, but also managing to save some delicate situations, finishing out the last stretch with two bogeys and another birdie. Generally speaking, Fernández Castaño proved to be reliable in his tee to green performance, a part of the game on which he’s been working the most this year, so this is good news in that sense.
The Spanish golfer will play the two coming weeks in the Scandinavian Invitation, on Swedish terrain, and the Omega European Masters, in Crans (Switzerland), and for now, he plans on resting the following week, when the Porsche European Open will be held in Hamburg.
