The first round of the RBC Heritage was a fluke. Gonzalo Fernández Castaño is in the midst of recovering the best version of his game, which is exactly what he demonstrated on Friday at Hilton Head. The Madrid native did not make the cut, but he finished with one of the best cards in the second round.
Gonzalo Fernández Castaño did not get off to a great start at the RBC Heritage, PGA Tour tournament held on the Harbour Town Links Course, Hilton Head. The Spanish golfer held his ground on the first ten holes where he went head to head with the demanding course, but the round started to get complicated around the 12th hole.
Gonzalo Fernández Castaño will participate in the RBC Heritage starting this Thursday. The Madrid native is back in action again two weeks after having had this idea very clear in his mind: to bring to Hilton Head what he already started in the Shell Houston Open. He was onto something and had much better vibes, although his putt didn’t cooperate enough to really reflect this change in his end results. That’s how Gonzalo himself put it in his personal blog.
It wasn't the Sunday Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño had hoped for. Round of 73 shots and too much lost ground. Sixteen places escaped out from under his fingertips in the last eighteen holes, a significant number that leaves a bad aftertaste. However, the overall outlook on the Shell Houston Open should be a good one. There a lot of positive points for the Madrid native to take home. A step forward in the season.
Gonzalo Fernandez Castaño (-7) continues to show signs of recovery in the Shell Houston Open. There have now been three consecutive rounds under par, after the 71 on Saturday.
Excellent round for Gonzalo Fernández Castaño (-6) in the second session of the Shell Houston Open. The Madrid native solidified the good vibes from Thursday and, this time definitively, the good play showed through in a much more significant score, with a final card for 68 shots.
