Gonzalo Fernández Castaño began the second round of the Travelers Championship with a jolt. The playing conditions weren’t the best, far from it, but the Spanish golfer found a way to land birdies and to climb up in the rankings. He made it to four under par for the day, -6 total, coming up up face to face with the leaders, third place in the tournament.
Gonzalo Fernández Castaño (-2) shot a 68 in the first round of the Travelers Championship, situating him comfortably in the mid portion of the rankings, far from leader Bubba Watson (-8), but just three shots away from the top ten.
Gonzalo Fernández Castaño will return to competition this week after an obligatory break during the US Open. The Madrid native would have liked to experience first-hand what those nasty greens of Chambers Bay are like, but it couldn’t happen and as of now the objective is to return to the major where he’s shined the most up until this moment. Not in vain, he made the top ten in Merion in 2013.
Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño did not make the cut in the FedEX St. Jude Classic. A bad start in the second round caused an upset and didn’t leave many options for the Madrid native to continue to play through the weekend.
Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño shot a 71 in the first round of the FedEx St. Jude Classic, PGA Tour tournament held at TPC Southwind course in Memphis. The Spanish golfer currently stands in 73rd place, with a total of one over par, just one shot away from the provisional cut.
Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño will compete in his fourth consecutive tournament this Thursday, fifth if we count the US Open pregame last Monday, where he found himself just two shots away from qualifying, during this 42-day marathon that began with the Wells Fargo, three weeks ago now.
