Gonzalo Fernández Castaño shot an incredible 67 in the third round of the AT&T Byron Nelson, in turn making the second cut of this PGA Tour tournament as well, held at TPC Four Seasons, in Irving, Texas. Now, the doors are wide upon for the Madrid native this Sunday in an attempt to move up in the rankings as high as possible, and to polish up his winnings pot.
Gonzalo made three birdies and a bogey on a course that’s suffered through a few changes after the intense rain from the past couple days, which caused a suspension in play, and in the end, was the motive for the course par to be reduced to 69. Fernández Castaño was able to adapt perfectly to these changes.
Yesterday was as long of a day of golf as it was productive. Gonzalo had to wake up early to play the last four holes of his second round, and shortly after had to go up against the next 18 of the third. The outcome was a notable four under par for the day, after having been at the club for around 20 hours. He’s currently in 54º place, with a total of three under par, just three shots, for example, from the top 30. The Spanish golfer caught 28 greens in the last two rounds and showed much more consistency on the greens. The golfers will come out in threes in the last and definitive round. Gonzalo will play alongside Kyle Reifers and John Huh starting at 6.25 pm, Spanish Peninsular time.
