Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño (-6) already started a few hours before the beginning of the second round in the Web.com Tour Qualifying School, final stage. “Today I’m going to give it all I’ve got in tribute to Tommy Horton”, he assured on Twitter. Horton, golf legend and coach to many golfers, one of whom is Gonzalo himself, had died a few hours before. There couldn’t have been a better motivating factor.
Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño (-1) shot a 71 in the first round of the Web.com Tour Qualifying School, final stage. The Spanish golfer started off on the Devil’s Claw course at the Whirlwind in Arizona, where he shot four birdies and three bogeys.
Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño will compete in the Web.com Tour Qualifying School, final stage, starting this Thursday. The Madrid native already has the second division card from the US tour, but he’ll attempt to improve his status by way of a good performance. In his current state, he has only secured his presence in the first four tournaments of the year before the first re-ranking.
Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño (-16) crossed the finish line of the marathon with a smile on his face. And well deserved at that. Six days and 108 holes later, the Spanish golfer managed to finish in the top 25 of the Final of the European Tour Qualifying School, and thus earned the rights to play next season. Gonzalo is beyond excited.
Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño (-13) had an extraordinary performance in the fifth, second-to-last round of the grande finale of the European Tour Qualifying School. The Madrid native shot a 65 and soared to the top of the rankings, up to tenth place. Sensational.

Great performance by the Spanish golfer in one of the key rounds this week, the fourth, the day the cut is established with the top 70 and ties who will continue to play 36 more holes, and where it pays off to be higher up in the rankings to earn the European Tour card.
