Gonzalo Fernández Castaño made an appearance in the European Tour school for the first time in 2004, he played well, he got the card and he won a total of seven tournaments. Now, thirteen years later, he’s back to the same goal of qualifying for any category that will allow him to play in some tournaments, especially where’s he’s been the champion, and thus, to combine the European Tour with the Web.com Tour, which will make up his professional calendar for next year.
The European Tour School Final will be held at Lumine, Tarragona, in Spain, starting this Saturday. It will be six days of competition and the top 25 will earn the card for next year. The cut will take place after the fourth day with the top 70 golfers and ties.
Gonzalo will play this Saturday starting at 10:30 in the morning. The two courses at Lumine, host to the School, are the Lakes and Hills. The Spanish golfer will have his good friend and colleague’s invaluable support, Álvaro Quirós, who offered to be his caddie for the week. Not bad. There are an accumulated total of fourteen wins between the two of them in the European Tour.
