Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño

Gonzalo Fernández Castaño (-2) ended his participation in the BMW Masters with a 77, which put him back to 43º place after a complicated round due to strong winds.

The Spanish golfer defended his title this week from one year ago, same time same place, the Lake Malaren Golf Club in Shanghai, and ironically in the pre-tournament synopsis, the wind was what stood out as a contributing factory to his victory one year ago, due to the fact that it evened out the playing field to make all contenders equal in strength on a course that isn't exactly pleasant. This time, however, and even though he had started the round out well with two early birdies, he couldn't adapt to the conditions and he ended up loosing his balance.

Marcel Siem (-16) is now in possession of Fernando Castaño's title, winning the tie breaker on the first hole with French golfer Alexander Levy, who wasn't able to take advantage of the four shot lead with which he went into the round today, Sunday, nor English golfer, Ross Fisher.

Gonzalo is now looking at a one week break to try and fine tune his game before going to the fourth tournament of the PGA Tour season, the OHL Classic at Mayakoba, in Mexico.
