Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño (+5) did not make the cut in the Panama Championship, third stop of the Web.com Tour, affected by wind and difficult weather conditions.
Gonzalo’s tournament was conditioned by the first round. He started off with a double bogey as if it were a bad omen for the holes to come. He responded nicely with three consecutive birdies, but another very bad stretch of five bogeys in six holes (from the 9th to the 14th) left him really far behind in the rankings.
The second round went much better. He fought bravely against the wind and managed to finish with a score of 71 shots, one over par, leaving him at just one shot away from the cut. A valiant effort to make it through to the weekend, although his effort was not rewarded in the end. The next tournament will be in Colombia, before crossing over to the European Tour.
