Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño had a game-changing round in the Bahamas, crucial in defining the rest of the season. The Spanish golfer shot a 67 in the last round of the Bahamas Great Abaco Classic, and finished in fourth place. An excellent comeback in the last round that allowed him not only to secure his presence in his first top ten in an official tournament since 2016, but also to significantly re-position himself in the Web.com Tour.
With this score, Gonzalo has secured his presence next week in the Panama Championship, tournament in which he did not have a guaranteed spot, as well as access to practically all the tournaments until May. It’s a sound step forward if we keep in mind that he started the year off with a very limited card and without knowing what his schedule would be like.
Gonzalo finished the tournament with a magnificent outcome of seven birdies and two bogeys. He moved up 17 places, all in one go, and ended up four shots from the leader. The first step toward a very promising year. Next week, he’ll play in Panama.
