Gonzalo Fernández Castaño will participate in THE PlAYERS Championship for the second time this Thursday, referred to as the fifth major of the season for its million dollar prize pool, the highest-paying of the year, including the 'majors' (ten million dollars and more than $1,700,000 for the winner...), and also known for the caliber of the players who participate.
The Spanish golfer left the Stadium course last year of the TPC Sawgress (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida) with a bittersweet sensation after having missed the cut. And the thing is, his game wasn't too bad during his debut, apart from a few slip-ups that cost him the tournament.
Gonzalo's goal, without a doubt, is to continue with the positive side of things and what he was able to accomplish in those 36 holes in which he was able to land nine birdies and an eagle, apart from all the other options for a birdie that were presented. The quintuple bogey that infamous Thursday on a par 3 on the 13th hole after having hit two balls into the water turned out to be too much to recover from, although Friday he was still able to come close to making the cut for the weekend.
Fernández Castaño will play tomorrow at 7:26 along with American golfer, Ryan Palmer and Australian golfer, Aaron Baddeley (at 13:26 Spanish time). The challenge represented by this incredible course is always a passionate one, although the Spanish golfer still hasn't quite been able to bring out the best version of his game yet this season. And it goes without saying that a consistent week at Sawgrass could make for a complete 180 and turn the entire season around...
