Gonzalo Fernández Castaño shot a 73 in the last round of the Web.com Tour Championship, and consequently did not make the cut of the top 25 who earned the PGA Tour card for next season. He needed an epic final round, but things went south right from the start with a bogey on the 10th hole (where he teed off), a par 5.
Gonzalo kept trying, but it turned into mission impossible. He had to finish in the top six in order to make it to the ultimate top 25, but he would have needed to shoot a 63 on Monday. The Web.com Tour ended on Monday due to the delay on Sunday because of a storm.
Gonzalo is already back at his home in Florida focusing on and preparing for next season. He’ll be part of the Web.com Tour. His next goal is to play in the Final stage of the Web.com Tour Qualifying Tournament in attempts to improve his position in the rankings, and thus, to avoid the re-rankings held during the season. Before that, he’ll play in the Andalucía Valderrama Masters, European Tour tournament held at Valderrama.
