The second round of the RBC Heritage was suspended due to intense rain around South Carolina, which caused the Harbour Town Links course to become virtually unplayable. Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño was able to finish his round and assure a spot in the cut with a solid 71 (PAR).
The Spanish golfer currently stands strong with a 3+, resulting in 59thplace as of now. All of the golfers from the afternoon sessions still have to play, which means that Gonzalo's ranking won't be definitive until tomorrow, but in any case, Gonzalo will definitely play through to the end.
A lot of work went into it, and it was a tough cut. Everything was under control with two birdies and just one bogey on the first nine; however, with two bogeys on the 15th, after dropping the ball for a penalty, and on the 17th with a 3-putt, they put Gonzalo in a very difficult position. He had to make a birdie to be able to rest easy tonight without having to worry about what will happen tomorrow, and he did it. He landed an incredible putt from seven meters away, earning him a spot in the tournament for this weekend.
The leader of the tournament, K.J. Choi (-5), finished with an outstanding 67 today. The conditions were vigorous, to the point where only eight players were able to make below par and there aren't even eleven leading on the course of those who have already played all 36 holes.
