Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño shot a 74 in the first round of the Corales Punta Cana, Web.com Tour tournament held in the Dominica Republic. Not so great of a start for the Madrid native who will need to pull off a really good round this Friday to make the cut.
Gonzalo made 16 pars and two bogeys in a round of golf where the putter was not on his side at any point in time. He didn’t land any of the options for birdie that he created and the round became more and more of an uphill battle as time went on.
The Spanish golfer had patience after signing the card and joked around in his recap of the day in an ironic tone.
The first round was not able to be completed due to lack of light after a suspension because of the bad weather, so it’s still to be determined when Gonzalo will play this Friday. It is supposed to be at 7:10 pm, Spanish time. That’s when the operation comeback should begin. The provisional cut as of now is four shots away.
