Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño shot a 71 in the first round of the Rex Hospital Open, new tournament of the Web.com Tour held on the TPC Wakefield Plantation course in North Carolina.
The Spanish golfer pulled off PAR after finishing the round with two bogeys and two birdies, coincidentally both consecutive pairs and fourteen pars. He started the day off well with two birdies on the 11th and the 12th, but he couldn’t quite seal the deal to place among the top in the rankings.
In the end, his score for PAR landed him in 70th place, within the provisional cut, although right at the limit. He’s four shots from the top ten. This Friday he’ll play in the afternoon, at 19:10, Spanish time.
