Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño did not make the cut in the United Leasing and Finance Championship, Web.com Tour tournament being held this week on the Victoria National course in Indiana.
The Madrid native was fighting hard all day long to be able to play this weekend, but a bad finale, with a bogey on the 17th and a triple bogey on the 18th, when he was left without alternatives, was what ultimately knocked him out of the fight. In the moment he made the bogey on the 17th he was left out of the cut, although all he would have needed were a few pars to be able to play the following 36 holes.
Gonzalo had a rough day, and a tough battle. It was give and take on the course. He made four birdies, all four on par fives, and he made six bogeys, apart from the painful triple bogey to end the day. He shot a 77.
Now it's time to wipe the slate clean and start fresh. The next event of the Web.com Tour is the Rex Hospital Open, in two weeks in North Carolina.
