Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño will go up against a new battle in the Web.com Tour starting this Thursday. Without even having had time for a breather, the Madrid native left Spain to head to Mexico to play in El Bosque Mexico Championship presented by Innova, tournament held on El Bosque Country Club course, in León, Guanajuato.
Gonzalo returns to the PGA Tour qualifier after having put forth a more than worthy performance in the Valderrama Open de España, European Tour tournament held in really tough playing conditions. In a joking tone, Fernández-Castaño admitted on social networks as soon as he hit Mexican terrain that “I’m unpacking my suitcase and still finding bits of rough and Cork oak leaves”, in reference to the difficulties presented at Valderrama.
He doesn’t expect El Bosque to be such a difficult test of endurance as was the Andalusian course, but the pressure is on and no tournament is easy. Gonzalo needs to get a good score in order to get to the top of the continuous Web.com re-rankings and in order to continue competing.
Gonzalo will play on Thursday at 12:45 pm, Spanish time, on the 10th tee, with Mark Anderson and Tag Ridings. The time difference between Guanajuato and Spain is five hours.
