Gonzalo Fernández Castaño (-4) made the cut in the Brazil Champions presented by Embrace. The Madrid native shot a 69 in the second round and will continue on, with 36 holes left to play in attempts to make his way up in the rankings and to finish in the highest position possible.
Gonzalo finished with five consecutive pars to secure his spot for the weekend, and the cut was closed right at four under par. It was a rigorous cut at the Sao Paulo Golf Club. The birdies continue to steal the show and it’s going to be essential to keep the score low in order to end up among the top golfers.
Be that as it may, Gonzalo is just five shots from the top ten and there's a long road ahead on the Brazilian terrain. In other words, anything could happen. He’s got a good rhythm of birdies going. He’s already reached nine in just two rounds, which means that as soon as he can turn in a bogey-free card he’ll be able to gain a lot of ground.
Gonzalo is scheduled to play this Saturday starting at 12:33, Spanish time, together with Matt Davidson.
