Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño will play alongside Scottish golfer, Stephen Gallacher, in the opening fourball challenge of the EurAsia cup starting this Thursday.
The EurAsia Cup is a new tournament to be held for the first time this season, where Asia and Europe will go head to head in the same format as the Ryder Cup. Each team is made up of 10 players, including one team captain, Miguel Ángel Jiménez for Europe and Thongchai Jaidee for Asia. The position will be disputed every two years.
Thus, tomorrow marks the dawn of the heated competition, and Gonzalo and Gallacher will go up against Indian duo, Gaganjeet Bhullar and Anirban Lahiri, two of the golfers on the Asian Tour who already have two victories under their belts.
This duel play will be the fourth match of the season, beginning at 9:25 (local time, 2:25 Spanish Peninsular time). The rest of the games are as follows:
Jiménez and Larrazábal Vs. Jaidee and Aphibarnrat
Bjorn and Olesen Vs. Tanihara and Oda
Dubuisson and Luiten Vs. Marksaeng and Siddikur
McDowell and Donaldson Vs. Kim and Fung
The tournament will be held at the Glenmarie Golf and Country Club in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where it seems that the weather could take a turn for the worse throughout the week. According to the forecast, there's a slight chance of storms on Thursday, and increased probability for Friday and Saturday.
