Gonzalo Fernández Castaño will play in the Valderrama Open de España-Sergio García Foundation which will be held on April 14th to the 17th on the Andalusian course in Sotogrande.
The Madrid native immediately made some adjustments to his calendar when it was officially announced by the European Tour. As soon as he’s able to confirm that there is not a Web.com Tour tournament that week, he will definitely block those days out in his schedule without a doubt. It will be Fernández Castaño’s return to the Open de España after last year’s absence. Remember that last season he was unable to be at El Prat due to commitments with the PGA Tour, where he was fighting to maintain the card.
Additionally, Gonzalo will be coming back to one of his favorite courses, a place where he’s spent long days of training when he lived in Spain. His scores at Valderrama have always been good. He’s never finished below 35º place, nor in the Volvo Masters, nor when he played in the Andalucía Sotogrande, where he ended up in twelfth place, his best ranking there to date. One day later, he went to Singapore and went on to win his fifth of seven victories in the European Tour.
