Gonzalo Fernández Castaño shot an outstanding 67 in the third round of the Panama Claro Championship and went up over twenty positions in the rankings in the first tournament of the year in the Web.com Tour.
The Madrid native is showing an excellent level of play in the tough Panamanian competition. At the moment, after three tournaments played, he's the fourth highest in the rankings for birdies (13). Yesterday he made five, countered by two bogeys, placing him at a total of three under par, an incredible score leaving him in thirteenth place, one shot away from the top ten and five from the leader, Curtis Thompson. Gonzalo is handling himself well as far as the difficult playing conditions in Panama, with very tough greens and constant wind that is making things really difficult for golfers.
This Sunday will be the last and definitive round. Gonzalo will go out to play at 11:55 am, local time, 5:55 pm Spanish time, together with American golfer Joseph Bramlett.
