Gonzalo Fernández Castaño shot a 71 in the second round of the Panama Claro Championship, first tournament of the year of the Web.com Tour. He's made it past the first step. He'll play this weekend after a grueling round of golf in which he made three birdies and four bogeys.
The Panama Golf Club is a demanding course and it forces you to be well-polished off the tee and in the shots to green in order to create options for birdie. There haven't been low-scoring rounds, which is why Gonzalo's score of one over par should be considered a good one, and his overall result of PAR.
The Spanish golfer is now in 33º place in the rankings, far from the leader, Curtis Thompson, who really stands out with a score of ten under par, but is well on his way to accomplishing other more immediate goals. In fact, he's just three shots from the top ten and just five from second place.
Gonzalo will play this Saturday in the third round starting at ten in the morning, local time, four in the afternoon in Spain.
