Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño finished this Sunday with his best round of the week and one of the best of the Final Stage of the Web.com Tour Qualifying School. The Madrid native shot a 70 on the Fazio Course, one of the two courses in the PGA National (West Palm Beach, Florida), which have been host to this selection process.
Gonzalo’s performance in the Final has progressively improved and it’s all documented in the scores (73-72-71-70). He went up almost thirty places today and finished in the top seventy. He wasn’t able to accomplish this week’s objective in the end, which was to finish among the top ten and thus to improve his status in the Web.com Tour for next year, however, he was able to walk away with a good taste in his mouth. The Madrid native put forth a solid long game today, having caught a significant amount of fifteen greens, however he couldn’t avoid the fact that the round was like a rollercoaster, with six birdies and four bogeys. Once again, his percentage of accuracy was on point, and in fact, one of the best of the day.
All things considered, Gonzalo will maintain the same ranking he had before. That is to say, he’ll have to go through two re-rankings throughout the season, which means he needs to get off to a good start of the season in order to take the pressure off for the year.
