Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño shot a par in the second round of the Final Stage of the Web.com Tour Q-School. The Madrid native went out to play on the Fazio Course today, part of the PGA National grounds in West Palm Beach, Florida. The final score was made up of three birdies, a bogey and a double bogey. All the action happened on the first nine holes (he started on the 10th hole), where he made a chain of nine consecutive shots for par.
Gonzalo improved on his score from yesterday in one shot at the beginning of the round which allowed him to go up a few spots in the rankings, although he is still quite far from the top ten, the main objective of the week, because it’s what would allow him to improve his actual status in the Web.com Tour regarding next season.
In any case, there are still 36 holes left to play and lots of work to be done. Gonzalo will continue to go for it, on the hunt and prowl for that low round that will get him in the mix before Sunday. He will need to improve on his shots to green in order to reach the objective. Today, he didn’t even catch ten greens, which is what forced him to swim against the current, so to speak, for the entire round. The good news is that his short game and putt are at their finest. In fact, today he finished with some solid statistics, eight of ten recoveries.
