A partial score of six under par in the last ‘marathon’ round of the Sanderson Farms Championship is what lead Gonzalo Fernández Castaño to pull off his best score of the year in the PGA Tour. A good way to take advantage of the first opportunity of the season.
Gonzalo had to play ten holes today of the third round and the entire fourth round. The partial score was excellent. He ended up shooting a 67 in the third and a 68 in the fourth, allowing him to work his way up 50 positions in the rankings since the moment he made the cut. An incredible reaction to the pressure which lead him to finish in fifteenth place.
It’s the best score of the season for Gonzalo and a step forward, without a doubt, in a season in which he doesn’t hold the PGA Tour card and needs to take advantage of every opportunity presented to him. The Spanish golfer was on point in all aspects of the game, solid, only five bogeys throughout the entire four days, and an outstanding performance in his short game and on the putt. Thus, it comes as no surprise that he was the fourth best golfer of the tournament on the greens.
This score will help Gonzalo go into the OHL Classic at Mayakoba with good vibes, tournament held this week for which he has received an invitation.
