Gonzalo Fernández Castaño (-3) made the cut after finally finishing the second round in the Sanderson Farms Championship, held at the Country Club at Jackson (Jackson Mississippi). The Madrid native finished the thirteen holes that were left to play this second round, and he did it with an unusual chain of thirteen consecutive pars which allowed him to make the cut in the end.
Gonzalo had to face the final putt on the 18th hole from a little over a meter away to save the par, knowing that it was necessary in order to continue on today, Sunday, in the third round, already in play (the final round of the tournament will be played on Monday, as a result of all the delays due to bad weather.
The Spanish golfer, who is currently far from the leader, Roberto Castro (-15), was somewhat inconsistent in his long game, but was solid around the greens, coming through with some outstanding, clutch recoveries.
