Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño shot a 73 on Saturday in the third round of the Web.com Tour Championship, a score that leaves him with practically no possibilities of recovering the PGA Tour card in the Web.com Final Series.
The goal got really complicated, although it's also true that where there's a will there's a way. He's still alive and that's what Gonzalo will hold on too this Sunday on the Dye's Valley Course in Sawgrass. The Spanish golfer stands at an accumulated total of +3 and needs to end up approximately in the top 7. The golfer currently in seventh place has a -7, which is what he would need to recover in the last and final round, nothing short of ten shots.
Gonzalo had a really tough time at the end of the third round. He made a double bogey on the 12th and three more consecutive bogeys on the 16th, 17th and 18th. Three of those four holes started off with problems off the tee. A significant setback on the stretch in which the Spanish golfer was looking to do exactly the opposite.
Gonzalo will go out to play starting at 2:38 pm, Spanish Peninsular time, together with Alex Aragon. Mission impossible? You never know...
