Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño ended up with a solid finale in the Small Business Connection Championship, second stop of the Web.com Tour Finals, and took an important step forward in his objective of recovering the PGA Tour card.
The Spanish golfer shot a 70 this Sunday, two under par, with four birdies and two bogeys, and went up 10 places in the rankings. He finished in 21st place, and now stands in 28th place in the overall final rankings, in other words, very close to the top 25 who will grab hold of the PGA Tour card after the fourth tournament.
Gonzalo finished with a valiant birdie on the 18th hole. It wasn’t an easy day of golf, but the Madrid native new perfectly how to manage the course to come out with a more than decent score. He wasn’t as on point off the tee (five fairways), but he was able to turn it around by catching thirteen greens and making four outstanding birdies.
Gonzalo will compete in the Nationwide Children’s Championship this Thursday, second-to-last tournament of the Web.com Tour finals, held on the Scarlet Course in Columbus, Ohio.
