Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño turned in a card for 68 shots in the second round of the Hotel Fitness Championship, first test of the Web.com Tour Finals, and made the cut. He's already made it past the first step.
The Spanish golfer had an excellent reaction today to the pressure, with a round in which he made seven birdies. He now stands among the top 30 in the tournament, three shots away from the top ten and six from the leader, Jamie Lovemark.
Gonzalo’s long game was much more in tune today, especially on the shots to green. He caught fourteen greens and was able to take advantage of a lot of the options he created. Not in vain, he was able to make seven birdies, stats that hardly any golfer was able to achieve in this second round.
Gonzalo will now have the whole weekend ahead to continue to fight for his objective of recovering the PGA Tour card.
