Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño has concluded his participation in the Quicken Loans National, PGA Tour tournament held at the Robert Trent Jones GC in Virginia with a round of 75 shots and a total of three under par. Not so great of a Sunday session, namely on two holes in particular, which made him fall back to 52º place in the rankings.
Gonzalo only missed four greens in the entire day, but they definitely cost him. On the 7th, the first bogey happened, although the main blows were on holes 11 and 12. Two double bogeys in a row after having missed both approaches. On the 11th, the ball went to the water, and on the 12th, to an indigenous part of the course where he was obligated to drop. All the bad luck in the span of two holes.
The rest of the day wasn’t bad, not in the least, although he could barely even take advantage of the options for birdie that he created, most of all on holes 4 and 5, both opportunities escaped out from under his fingertips from less than two and one meters away, respectively.
The fates of fortune turned their back on Gonzalo this weekend. In any case, the game is still there. A good week on the putt will allow him to fight for the victory in the next two weeks of competition. That’s what the Madrid native will look for, both in Barracuda this coming Thursday, as well as in fifteen days in the Wyndham.
