Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño´s participation in the John Deere Classic will commence today, PGA Tour date held at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois. Gonzalo will go out to play the first round starting at 8.20 pm, Spanish Peninsular time, together with John Huh and Martin Flores.
The Spanish golfer is short of points, but is quite possibly in the midst of the peak of his season right now. He’s playing well, solid and confident off the tee, making birdies and finishing with many cards under 70 shots, a clear and direct indicator that his game is on the verge of being able to do big things.
In fact, his scores in the last few tournament have been influenced in big part by the putt. If he’s comfortable on the greens, Gonzalo makes it hand in hand with the best, but when that inspiration disappears, his game suffers.
Jordan Spieth’s presence is one of the big incentives of the tournament. The Number Two in the world took home the first victory of his professional career here and has decided to use this week as a benchmark test for the Open Championship. Additionally, the John Deere will grant one spot, the last, for the British. It will be rewarded to the highest-ranking golfer among the top 5 who still doesn’t have a spot in St. Andrews.
