Gonzalo Fernández Castaño did not make the cut at the Wells Fargo Championship after an overall negative second round, in which he turned in a card for 78.
It wasn't the Madrid native's day on the greens at Quail Hollow after a solid first round in which he was able to pull through, putter in hand. He wasn't exactly on point in his long game either and this accumulation of problems turned out to be too much of a burden in a critical moment of the season when he needs to bring out his best game. In fact, in a round in which he made a double bogey right off the bat, he wasn't able to combat it with a birdie later on in the round either, which gives somewhat of an idea of how unfortunate and erratic his putt was.
