It was a negative finale to a round of lots of hard work and struggle for the Madrid native, who had a bad day off the tee. And TPC Sawgrass is one of the most unforgiving courses regarding this particular shortcoming. From here, he needs a really good day on the greens in order to pull off a round under par, which although Gonzalo wasn’t bad on the putter, he did miss four or five putts from distances around three meters out that could have put a different spin on things in a positive way. That being said, his birdie on the 7th is worth noting, which he sank from more than six meters away, and other well-shot short putts to come out nicely from difficult situations.
