Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño took 24th place at the Honda Classic for his best performance of the year in the PGA Tour. The Madrid native tied down a solid performance despite the demanding conditions at the PGA National at Palm Beach Gardens, three consecutive times below par with a final result of -3, not even two shots away from the top ten.
Gonzalo battled out the last round together with Sergio García, the other Spanish player in the tournament. Both walked away happy having played a solid game of golf. “It was a great day and Gonzalo adapted well to the course, he fought hard for it”, noted García.
Fernández-Castaño came back in the tournament with a spectacular birdie on hole 18, a job well done on a par 5 that did a lot of damage and caused a lot of commotion during Sunday's session. His next big date will be the WGC Cadillac Championship on the Blue Monster at the Doral, a tournament which the Spanish golfer will play as a local after having moved to Miami last year.
