Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño said goodbye to the Northern Trust Open after a round to forget. The Madrid native finished with a total of 78 after a day of golf where he constantly had to come up from behind.
The beginning of the round was already threatening to be a tough day at the office. On the first nine holes (he started on the 10th) he ended up with 42 shots, a heavy burden difficult to come out from under. He started off fresh on the back nine, with two birdies on the 1st and the 3rd, but he finished off with a bogey on the 8th and the 9th.
Gonzalo had to fight against an inconsistent long game. He caught nine fairways, but only seven greens and the putter didn't help much either.
The PGA Tour will now pack up and move shop to Florida. In other words, Gonzalo will play at home. The next event is the Honda Classic, a few kilometers north of his Miami residence.
