Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño won’t be playing this weekend at the Farmers Insurance Open after finishing with two cards for 72 and 75 shots on the North and South Torrey Pines courses.
The Madrid native passed the always challenging South course in California with flying colors. A round for par on the third most difficult course of the season of the PGA Tour last year is, to say the least, a dignified result. The slip-up came on Friday on the North course. Gonzalo finished with a 75, for a total of +3, and missed the cut. He improved on his long game, but the putt didn’t help him in practically the entire round.
The third test of the American tour season passed, Fernández-Castaño will now have a week’s rest and will go on to compete in fifteen days, in the Northern Trust Open in Riviera, Los Angeles.
The incredible putt on the 16th hole of the South course was his best moment at the Farmers, where he still wasn’t quite able to make it.
