Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño made the cut at the Humana Challenge, his first tournament of 2015 of the PGA Tour after landing an incredible total of 66 shots in the third round of the tournament.
The Madrid native played the PGA West Nicklaus Private and turned in the fifth best result of the day on this course. An amazing performance that placed him at a total of nine under par and secures his presence today, Sunday, in the last round of the tournament. This 66 also makes for his best card since the Sunday of the RBC Canadian Open in July, 2014.
Gonzalo started off with four birdies on the first five holes, an excellent staging of events that laid the foundation for a solid round of golf. However, he needed something more to pass the cut in a tournament primarily made up of birdies. He got to the two last crucial holes and finished with birdie-birdie, achieving his first objective.
The cut at the Humana Challenge, third of the season, excellent news. It reinforces his confidence in the start of the 2015 season and, above all, eliminates the shadow of a doubt, mainly due to those back pains with which he ended the year 2014.
