Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño will start the season off this Thursday in the Human Challenge, third date of the PGA Tour in 2015, held on three different courses in California: PGA West Palmer Private, PGA West Nicklaus Private and La Quinta. It will be the first tournament of the year for the Spanish golfer, along with the first benchmark test to measure how his game is doing after such a long period of eight weeks without competing.
The return to competition is always a mixture of excitement and uncertainty. Unable to measure in a tournament whether or not the swing is up to par, awaits to be seen in that first round to resolve any doubts. Gonzalo is no exception, and much less after a long preseason where he wasn't able to train much due to back problems. Additionally, he started to work with Randy Smith, his new coach, and so he will also have to be patient and give it time, due to these changes, to let it all soak in.
Thus, Gonzalo is anxiously awaiting this season's debut to clear up all doubts. It's almost here. It will begin this Thursday at the Palmer Private, starting at nine in the morning, local California time, six in the afternoon in Spain. He couldn't have asked for better company for the first round of the year. He'll play with his good friend, Francisco Molinari. The third party, American golfer, Brendan Steele.
