Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño finished with a card of 68 shots in the third round of the Dunlop Phoenix Tournament, held at the Phoenix Country Club course in Miyazaki.
The Spanish golfer had a phenomenal round with five birdies and two bogeys, and rose to 32º place in the rankings. Gonzalo is just five shots from the top ten, an objective that has never failed in the entire 7 previous editions that he's played at the Dunlop.
He started with a bogey on the 2nd hole, but came back quickly with an amazing streak of three birdies between the 4th and the 7th, and then went on to interchange shots, birdie, bogey and birdie from the 16th to the 18th. Another day where all the action was centered around the beginning and the end of the round.
Gonzalo will play tomorrow, Sunday, in the first game of the day on the 10th hole, together with David Oh and Michio Matsumura at 8:05 am, local time.
Without a doubt, the best moment of the day was his encounter with a true golf legend in Japanese and world golf, Isao Aoki, member of the Hall of Fame of golf since 2004, proud owner of 78 professional victories. The Spanish golfer immortalized the moment on the practice course at the Dunlop Phoenix Tournament.
