Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño ended the OHL Classic at Mayakoba with a card of 70 shots for a total of four under par. The Madrid native ended up in 51º place.
It was far from the ideal outcome that Gonzalo had pictured in his head before traveling to Mexico, although it's not bad to finish out the end of the year of the PGA Tour with better results than last season. Yes, he himself knows it's not enough, but it's also about looking at the glass as half full.
Gonzalo made three bogeys and four birdies, two of them on the second nine holes, where he didn't make any errors. Today he struggled more from tee to green than yesterday, however, his putt was notably better. It's the first week of the season in which he played all four days, from which the conclusion can be drawn that Mexico was a step forward.
Fernández-Castaño will say goodbye to the American season until next year. His next tournament will be the Dunlop Phoenix in Japan. Afterwards, a well-deserved break.
