Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño finished with a 72 after the third round of the OHL Classic at Mayakoba. The Madrid native went down a few positions in ranking, and his accumulated total result is -3, far from the top scores.
Today was one of those days when the quality of his game wasn't reflected in the results, typical in golf. If yesterday the Spanish golfer relied on his putt to squeeze every last drop out of the course, with nine out of nine recoveries, today it was precisely that same putt that held him back from a better performance after having improved from tee to green, most all with the irons.
Gonzalo caught almost eighty percent of the greens, although he couldn't avoid the four slip-ups: three bogeys and a double bogey. However, Gonzalo compensated with four birdies, but on a course like the Chameleon of the Mayan Riviera where the results have been really low, a round of 72 shots isn't enough for a place among the top positions.
