Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño (-4) made the cut at the OHL Classic at Mayakoba after finishing with an excellent round of 68 shots on the Chameleon course in the Mayan Riviera.
The Madrid native finished the round without missing a beat, four birdies, three of them almost in a row on holes 10 through 13, and moved up more than thirty spots in the rankings. He's in 46º place, four shots from the top ten and eight from the leader, who currently stands on his own, American golfer Michael Putnam.
Gonzalo pulled off excellent results, but he had to resort to one of the thousand tricks he has up his sleeve around the greens in order to make the cut with pride with a card of 68. He only caught nine greens, but he compensated nicely, recovering on nine out of nine, an incredible feat.
Thus, Gonzalo will play in the third round starting at 4:25 pm, together with Ricky Barnes and Colt Knost.
