Back in the last century in the 1920's , Harry Colt and Charles Alison created a golf course with nine holes on the Seaside Island of Georgia. That landmark is now, almost one hundred years later, location of The McGladery Classic, PGA Tour tournament where Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño will be playing this week.
Seaside Island, and more specifically, the Seaside Course, is one of the most historical settings for American golf. The majors have all won tournaments there, such as Bobby Jones, Jack Nicklaus and Sam Snead. But what's more, it's now home and training grounds to many PGA Tour golfers, among whom are Davis Love III, Chris Kirk, Matt Kuchar, and Zach Johnson, to name a few.
At this temple, Gonzalo will compete in his third tournament of the season of the American tour. The objective is to start accumulating points after having missed the cut at the Frys.com Open and the Shriners Hospitals for Children. The Spanish golfer will play this Thursday at 2.25 pm, Spanish time, together with Shawn Stefani and Padraig Harrington.
The weather predictions point to good conditions, a bit of wind, but nothing extreme, and more clear skies than clouds throughout the entire week.
