Gonzalo Fernández Castaño opened the PGA Tour season with a 73. The Spanish golfer started out at the Frys.com Open with a great day from tee to green, but not so precise at the hole.
Gonzalo was on point with the irons. In fact, he caught more than eighty percent of the greens, catching a little less than half the fairways, however, he didn't leave many clear options for the birdie, nor was his putt up to par with what his game deserved.
In any case, his card of one over after the first 18 holes puts him at just one shot away from the cut and six away from the leaders, Andres Gonzales and Sang Moon Bae.
Gonzalo finished with good vibes, landing a birdie on the 18th from around three meters away to wipe the bad taste away from the bogeys on holes 15 and 16, with three putts, one of them, strangely enough, from three meters away.
This Friday he'll play in the first game of the day starting at 7.15 am local time, 4:15 pm in Spain.
